Nyla Rock-Vanloo
Bio
Nyla Rock-Vanloo, LCSW is a trauma-informed psychotherapist, organizational development leader, and educator working within the New York nonprofit sector and in private practice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Agnes Scott College and a Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY). She is a 2025 Blau Fellow at the Rutgers Brandt Behavioral Health Treatment Center and Retreat and serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the Rutgers School of Social Work.
Nyla's work centers on trauma-informed and anti-oppressive organizational practices, with expertise in organizational culture, leadership development, and employee well-being. Her research within the DSW program explores workforce well-being through a trauma-informed lens and the ways systems of oppression shape workplace environments and professional experiences. She provides consultation, training, and strategic guidance to nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and community-based agencies seeking to build equitable, psychologically safe, and resilient workplaces.
In addition to her consulting and clinical work, Nyla has supported research examining the relationship between complex trauma and systems of oppression at the Silberman School of Social Work and has published scholarship analyzing the academic experiences of Black social work students.
